Wilma King-Bennett, after completing her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Management Studies at the University of the West Indies, started her career in Banking, in Kingston Jamaica and has spent many years as a senior, consultative, pharmaceutical representative in Vancouver, BC and in Jamaica W.I. Her skills allowed her to increase revenue for international and local organizations throughout BC and North America. Wilma credits her adeptness at formulating strategic plans and targeted selling concepts to her vast experience by working in various sales and marketing industries both in Canada and the Caribbean. She has received various awards in the pharmaceutical and banking industries.

 

        Her ability to work individually or on a team earned her the responsibility to implement programs for strategic planning to increase territorial growth, develop and maintain as well as coach, train and implement workshops and set up displays for company projects and staff development. Wilma earned numerous awards in her field as an outstanding contributor in the field of Health Care.

 

        The collaborative skills which she learned working with corporate executives in competitive analysis, providing marketing recommendations to address industry position, qualifies her to develop and showcase the Jamaican Brand in the Vancouver area. She intends to use her specialized knowledge and creative targeted marketing campaigns to involve the Jamaican Diaspora into building trade relations between Western Canada and Jamaica.

 

        Wilma intends to focus on identifying market trends and create new opportunities, providing strategic direction to the people who will seek her advice. Her past experience in managing and maintaining direct customers through aggressive networking and collaboration with existing accounts within the large multi-national corporations, will aid in her determination to act as liaison between the Diaspora in other Canadian cities and ultimately with Jamaica.

 

        She maintains several business and professional affiliations. Wilma considers her position as Honorary Council an important asset in expanding Jamaica’s presence in Vancouver.
